Shading in singles is often new for most players when they hear it. Why is that? When player are taught initially they are told do to back to the middle or as close to the middle as you can. This is fine to use the middle as a reference point. Most players that start out in Tennis lessons or instructional groups leave once they get the basic tennis strokes down. Because of that players never get to the point of shading your opponent to cover the court better and they continue to move back to the middle each and every time and get beat with routine shots.
In this video I am going to explain the basics to shading so that players can start to understand basic tennis court coverage.
